Celebrating Three Generations of Happy

Our Story
It all started in the autumn of 1970, when a customer at Lochirco Fruit & Produce, owned by Steve Lochirco, asked if he could custom order some caramel-covered apples. Happy to oblige, Steve instructed the customer to fill out an order form. But when an employee misread the "2" for a "20" on the form, Steve suddenly found himself with 18 extra cases of caramel apples.
Determined to turn the mishap into an opportunity, Steve loaded the surplus into his produce truck and headed to the one place he knew would be bustling on a Friday night—the Washington High School football game. Steve watched with satisfaction as fans bit into the sweet, sticky apples, their smiles confirming that he was onto something special. Before he knew it, the demand for more caramel apples in the community continued to grow, and Happy Apples was born.

Fast forward three generations…
Today, under the leadership of Steve’s daughter, Joette, Happy Apples continues to thrive while remaining true to its roots. We celebrate traditions, bring families together, and offer a wholesome, affordable treat that everyone can enjoy. While our production facility has modernized, the heart of Happy Apples remains unchanged: it's all about spreading joy, one delicious apple at a time.
